Two months after the successful MCare 101 seminar, Asian Center for Missions (ACM) held a follow-up seminar last September 15 entitled “MCare 201: Resilient Living in the Frontlines, A Stress and Crisis Management Seminar.”

The seminar, in partnership with the Philippine MCare Network, had a successful turnout of 127 participants, composed of pastors and church leaders, missionary care administrators, missionary trainees, mission mobilizers, and missionaries.

The day opened with a teaching devotion from Nat Ramos, ACM Philippine Director, focusing on understanding and caring for one’s “kalooban.”

ACM MCare Director Grace A. followed with sessions on Adult Life Stages and Transitions, and Coping with Stress and Burnout.

“Humans are designed with limits,” she said. “Limits are designed by God to remind us that we are mortals, not God.”

Two ACM-trained missionaries serving in restricted countries as well as two heads of missions agencies teamed up to teach crisis and contingency planning. This session aimed to emphasize that while mission goers have a strong faith in God, it is also a biblical and ethical responsibility to prepare ahead for various crises in one’s missionary journey.

At the event, a team of missionary care volunteers were recognized. South Metro MCare Volunteers received a plaque of appreciation for their partnership with ACM for the past three years.

Over all, the seminar had a profound impact on the personal and professional lives of the participants who attended, as indicated in their comments from evaluation forms that identified some of their main learnings.

“God loves us. We need to take care of our inner being,” said one church worker.

Another participant said she needs to “run well and rest well” for the Lord. She was inspired to share this burden to her church, especially to members of the missions board.

“The lessons shared were absolutely great,” said one missions mobilizer. “It will be a great help for our team especially that we are in the process of developing procedures and policies for our missionaries.”

“I am reminded to pray for our missionaries always,” said another seminar participant.

ACM’s Global Bayanihan continues to press on towards its goal of advancing the Kingdom of Jesus Christ in partnership with churches and other missions organizations through prayer, mobilization, training, and facilitating the sending and caring of missionaries to the 10/40 Window and beyond.

The organization also commits itself not only to train, but also to care.
