| The manager as ‘midwife’ |

Pastor Glen Melo, the new regional manager (RM) of the Asian Center for Missions in Northern Mindanao, jokingly calls himself a different RM – regional midwife, that is. True enough, his responsibility as missions mobilizer means expanding from his post in Cagayan de Oro City and helping pastors and churches in the region give birth to missionaries. A computer engineer by profession, Pastor Glen has committed his life to God’s work since he was set free from drug abuse in his college years. From then on he became an active student leader for the Polytechnic University of the Philippines chapter of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF), where he acquired the passion for evangelism, discipleship and campus missions. The seed of God’s Word planted in Pastor Glen’s heart continued to grow as he and his wife Aymi, a fellow IVCFer, moved to Mindanao and founded the Vision Center for World Harvest, a growing local church in Cagayan De Oro with a global vision. The couple concerted their efforts with the goal of strategic church planting in the region through raising and equipping evangelists, pastors and missionaries for the Harvest. Thanks to Pastor Glen and Aymi’s groundwork, ACM’s Global Bayanihan movement has made a great headway in Mindanao by involving teams of local pastors to a deeper commitment in cross-cultural missions. |
